Leadership Experiences, Which Qualify Brother for Office, Sought
As a Brother of Alpha, I have embraced my call for service over the last 33 years. I have served in positions of leadership with increasingly greater responsibility. This matriculation has ultimately prepared me to seek the role of Southwestern Regional Vice President.
My development began in 2004 in the Xi Tau Lambda Chapter, where I served the brothers as Chapter Vice President for 4 years. In 2008, I served as Chapter President for two consecutive terms (4 years). In 2014, I endeavored to serve on a larger scale and was appointed as TCAC Executive Director, which assisted in my being elected as the 17th TCAC District Director in 2017. In addition, I have served as Southwestern Regional Chairman of the Rules and Credentials Committee and served as Chairman of the Brotherhood Smokes under the General Organization’s Reclamation Committee.
Service is about giving of oneself for the greater good of others; leadership is about leading a group of people or an organization, these two-character traits combine to form servant leadership, the ability to engage and motivate people to embrace a common vision. These two inseparable principles have helped to forge TCAC as a leader in the region and the nation. This is evident by the presence of Brothers at regional and national conventions and by their service to the Fraternity in positions of leadership.
I have also learned the importance of engagement of Brothers on both the alumni and collegiate levels. Brotherhood requires inclusion and can only be achieved through open and consistent communication. My experience has taught me the key factor in leadership is the ability to listen and engage Brothers through the process of change. This skill has helped me to strengthen connections of Brothers within the TCAC.
This experience at every level has helped to shape me as a true servant leader, one who is committed to the greater good and uplifting of our Brotherhood. Through service in my roles as a leader, I have been able to embrace change and institute processes that lead to growth. For example, working with the brothers of TCAC leadership, I led efforts to streamline our convention process and agenda into a more productive and efficient weekend event, resulting in both increased registrations and profit to the TCAC.
I intend to continue my long-standing commitment and dedication to this great Fraternity through my continued pursuit to serve in this leadership role, and while gaining further experience that best serves this Fraternity and Brotherhood.

A Vision for a Stronger Alpha Southwest
Our Fraternity vision statement is to develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, and provide service and advocacy for communities. Like our Fraternity, my vision for a stronger Alpha Southwest, is to encompass and enhance these aims. My vision for the Fraternity is to continue to work towards accomplishing our objectives: to stimulate the ambition of its members, to prepare them for the greatest usefulness in the causes of humanity, freedom, and dignity of the individual, to encourage the highest and noblest form of manhood, and to aid downtrodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic and intellectual status.
My vision for Alpha Phi Alpha is to assist the Fraternity in the next steps in its evolution, to succeed in its vision and objectives. Therefore, I will work to strengthen the Southwestern Region’s position as the leading region of the Fraternity through innovative strategies. I’m committed to carry out the following goals:
-
Demonstrate integrity as a leader within the fraternity by focusing on the core principles on which the Fraternity is founded,
-
Develop and implement initiatives that will provide opportunity for continuous development of members.
-
Institute strategies to strengthen our organization and its governance model
-
Implement a Reclamation Initiative thereby strengthening the Brotherhood
-
Promote the development of abilities of our members by providing and offering programs that enhance and improve leadership skill sets within the organization
-
Be a voice for our community addressing the issues and social injustices that face our communities.
